U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT MOST INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS RANKINGS METHODOLOGY
For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report asked top academics participating in a peer assessment survey in spring and summer 2020 to name the institutions they think are the most innovative schools.
College presidents, provosts and admissions deans were asked to nominate up to 15 colleges or universities in their U.S. News Best Colleges ranking category that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities.
The Most Innovative Schools rankings are based solely on the top academics’ responses to this question, which was a separate section of the annual 2020 peer assessment survey.
These rankings enable top college officials to pick schools that the public should be watching because of the cutting-edge changes the colleges are making on their campuses. Some of the colleges that made the Most Innovative Schools lists may not place highly in the overall rankings or score at the top of the regular peer assessment survey.
The lists, organized by U.S. News ranking categories, contain the colleges from the 2020 survey that received the most nominations. They are ranked in descending order based on the number of top-15 nominations they received. A school had to receive seven or more nominations to be listed.
