How to use and benefit from Purdue’s campaign builder tool
Using Purdue’s campaign builder tool is a great way to create short, trackable URLs that keep Purdue front and center — no need for third-party services like Bit.ly.
Step 1: Log in
- Access the campaign builder tool by logging in with your Purdue credentials.
Step 2: Enter your destination URL and campaign details
- Campaign name: Use a group label, like an event name, to unify related links.
- Medium: Select where you are going to use this link. Create unique links for each channel (e.g., “postcard” or “social”) to track performance of individual channels. (CPC refers to a “cost per click” ad.)
- Term and Content fields can further help you organize and differentiate links but are optional.
Step 3: Copy the link and/or request a shortened version
- Your campaign URL will appear below.
- To request a shortened link, check the box under “Campaign URL.”
- For example, to shorten your URL to “purdue.link/campaign_gold,” select “purdue.link” and enter “campaign_gold” in the Requested URL box. If the URL is available, shortened links will be emailed to your Purdue account.
Step 4: Distribution
- Use your link anywhere: Hyperlink it, drop it in your link-in-bio or turn it into a QR code for easy access. Pro Tip: Download your QR code as an SVG file to avoid pixelation when printing or enlarging.
Step 5: Track and enjoy
- You can monitor performance through Google Analytics or consult Purdue Brand Studio for insights.
- The campaign builder tool uses Google Tag Manager and integrates with Google Analytics (if it’s installed on your site) to track link clicks and show you how users arrive at your content. To enable tracking, ensure your site has both tools set up.
