Writing Scannable Copy

When people read online, only 16% of them read text word-for-word. The majority of readers will skim through your long-form copy to get the gist. Keeping this in mind can help you write copy that is easily scannable and keeps your audience invested in what you have to say.  

Tips for writing scannable copy: 

  • Write short paragraphs
  • Use subheadings
  • Swap paragraphs for bullet points
  • Consider all copy locations on your page (photo captions, headers, video titles etc.) as opportunities to tell your story
