When planning an event, follow this checklist to ensure you are using the most effective channels and methods to make your event successful.
Planning Your Event
Ensure the communicator in your area knows about the event.
Consider taking photos to document the event and to promote future events. Consult the Photography 101 guide.
To host an event in Loeb Playhouse, Fowler Hall, Elliott Hall of Music or Slayter Center, or if you have A/V needs at an event, contact Hall of Music Productions.
Are you a part of a student club or organization? Contact the Business Office for Student Organizations for assistance in planning and promoting your event.
Building Your Promotion Plan
Consider the most effective channels available to get your message out to your intended audience: for example, flyers, banners, web ads, social media posts, Facebook “events,” digital campus signage, T-shirts, University calendar, emails, etc.
Start promoting your event on your social media channels and website two to four weeks before the event. • Add your event to the University calendar at calendar.purdue.edu.
Local advertising for your event can be purchased through WLFI, the Purdue Exponent, Lafayette Journal and Courier, Star City Media and WBAA.
